With the season of Halloween upon us, don’t miss out on the Ghost Walk put on by the Museum on Main in Pleasanton October 12 & 13 (for tickets call 925.462.2766).

The idea of ghosts, goblins and things that go bump in the night has been with us throughout history. While I believe that ghosts (or spirits) may exist – especially after an experience at the Museum on Main late one night – I wonder if ghost stories aren’t another way of relating history.  Storytelling has long been a way of passing down history from generation to generation, and it seems to me that ghost stories may be a way to pass along some of the more violent or strange events that happened in small towns.

What do you think? Is there a basis for the ghost stories we love to hear? Also, are there other “haunted” places in the Tri-Valley? Let me know the stories you’ve heard. And have a hauntingly good time this Halloween!
